isms -culturalism

A third level predominant and a very near approximate to racism is culturism. Culturism may exist between individuals considered of same ethnic background and represent itself in differences between cultural approach to living, government, religion and so forth. A great example of a culturist environment is Serbia and Croatia. Although very similar in terms of ethnic or ‘racial’ background, Serbian and Croatian cultures are of such different outlook on certain specific matters that a good deal of time and energy is spent diffusing culturist problems between the two countries.

Cultural differences are often the cause of border land disputes, nationality contentions and other forms of (seemingly) rather primitive types of behaviour that human beings (especially grown up human beings) really ought not to contend each other on the basis of.

In china for example, pork is a popular meat due to the simplicity of farming pigs, the amount of time it takes to raise ‘feeder pork’ and the relatively low cost by the time supply hits market shelves. There are many individuals in Western Asia however where Halal and Kosher diets may not only not consider pork a sufficiently acceptable food source but would go as far as to basically forbid its consumption; sometimes do to religious reasons and sometimes due to diet preferences and/or taste preferences.

Cuturism is easily evident in many cultural jokes where ‘humour’ is often implicit as “finger pointing” in such a way that a certain cultural type may look down upon or against another cultural type for engaging in behaviours, practices or acts which are frown upon or not accepted by another culture.
